Clearing
Find a place at Luma University through UCAS Clearing if you have not secured your firm or insurance choice.
What is Clearing?
Clearing is the UCAS process matching applicants without a confirmed place to courses with remaining vacancies. You are eligible for Clearing if you applied through UCAS in the current cycle, were not made an offer, declined all offers, did not meet conditional offer requirements, or applied after the 30 June deadline.
Clearing opens on A-level results day, 19 August 2026, and remains open until vacancies are filled or the UCAS cycle closes in October. Luma publishes Clearing vacancies on our website and the UCAS search tool from 08:00 on results day.
How to apply through Clearing
First, check our Clearing vacancies page for available courses and entry requirements, which may differ from standard offers. Telephone our Clearing hotline on 01234 567801 with your UCAS personal ID, qualification results and course interest. Advisers conduct eligibility checks and may issue verbal offers immediately for suitable candidates.
If you receive a Clearing offer, add Luma as your Clearing choice in UCAS Track. We confirm places once Track updates, usually within a few hours. You may only add one Clearing choice at a time; if we confirm you, other institutions cannot offer you a place through Clearing until you ask us to release you.
On-campus support is available in the Admissions Centre on results day from 09:00 to 17:00. Bring your results slip and identification. Popular courses including nursing, law and computer science fill quickly—contact us early.
Adjustment
If you exceed the conditions of your firm choice offer, you may be eligible for Adjustment—a five-day window to seek an alternative course without risking your confirmed place. Adjustment opens on results day and runs for five calendar days or until you register an Adjustment choice.
Luma participates in Adjustment for selected programmes where places remain available. Contact [email protected] with your results to discuss eligibility. Adjustment is less commonly used than Clearing but benefits high-achieving applicants seeking to upgrade to a preferred course or institution.
Accommodation in Clearing
Clearing students are guaranteed an offer of university accommodation if they apply for halls within seven days of confirming their Clearing place, subject to availability. Contact [email protected] immediately after confirming your place. Late applicants may be offered alternative halls or directed to private sector options listed on our accommodation website.
Welcome Week activities begin in mid-September. Clearing students receive the same induction programme as students who confirmed places earlier in the cycle.
