Scholarships and Bursaries

Luma Access Bursary provides £1,500 per year to home undergraduates from households with income below £25,000 as assessed by Student Finance England. Recipients are identified automatically from student finance data—no separate application is required. The bursary is paid in three instalments during the academic year.

Care leavers and estranged students receive a £2,000 annual bursary plus enhanced pastoral support from a dedicated adviser. Students with caring responsibilities may apply for the Carer's Support Fund, offering grants up to £500 for unexpected costs related to their caring role.

Academic Excellence Scholarships of £2,000 per year are awarded to home undergraduates achieving AAA or equivalent at A-level who select Luma as their firm choice. Scholarships are confirmed after results certification and continue for each year of study subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Sports scholarships support athletes competing at regional, national or international level. Awards include coaching support, gym membership and flexible training arrangements. Apply through the sports development office with evidence of sporting achievement and a reference from your coach or governing body.

Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate Scholarship covers 50 per cent of tuition fees for outstanding home and international applicants to selected taught Master's programmes. Apply with your programme application, submitting an additional scholarship statement. Deadlines vary by programme; early application is advised.

Jaguar Land Rover Engineering Scholarships support twelve undergraduates annually with tuition fee contributions and maintenance grants. Funded PhD studentships are advertised on the research vacancies page, covering fees and stipend at UKRI rates for three to four years.

Students are encouraged to explore external scholarships including the Chevening programme, Commonwealth Scholarships, and subject-specific awards from professional bodies. The careers and funding team maintains a searchable database of external opportunities accessible through the student portal.

Hardship funds assist students experiencing unexpected financial difficulty during their studies. Applications are assessed by the Student Support Fund panel with decisions typically within ten working days. Evidence of circumstances and expenditure is required.
