Undergraduate Applications

All undergraduate applications to Luma University are submitted through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You will need to register on the UCAS website, add Luma as one of your five choices using our institution code N65, and complete your personal statement, education history and reference.

Our UCAS application deadline for most courses is 29 January 2027 for 2027 entry. Medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses follow the earlier 15 October deadline. We recommend submitting your application before the Christmas break to allow time for your referee to complete their statement and for any queries to be resolved.

Standard offers are expressed in UCAS tariff points or A-level grades depending on the programme. Typical offers range from BBB at A-level for humanities courses to AAB for nursing and AAB–AAA for engineering programmes. BTEC Extended Diploma applicants are welcome; requirements are listed on individual course pages.

Luma uses contextual admissions data to make reduced offers to applicants from backgrounds historically underrepresented in higher education. If you attend a partner school or live in a low-participation neighbourhood, you may receive an offer one or two grades below the standard requirement. Our admissions team evaluates each application holistically, considering personal statements, references and mitigating circumstances.

Once we receive your UCAS application, admissions staff assess it against entry criteria and may invite you to interview for courses including nursing, social work and initial teacher training. Decisions are communicated through UCAS Track—expect a response within four to six weeks during peak periods, though we aim to reply sooner where possible.

If you receive an offer, it may be conditional upon achieving specified grades or unconditional if you have already met the requirements. Offer holders are invited to applicant days in January and March, where you can experience campus life before making your firm choice. Firm choice and insurance choice deadlines follow the UCAS national timetable.

Students wishing to transfer into the second year of a Luma programme from another UK university should contact [email protected] with a transcript, module descriptions and personal statement. Transfer is subject to place availability and academic compatibility; not all programmes accept transfers.

Mature applicants without standard qualifications may be considered through accredited prior learning or an Access to HE Diploma.
