Open Days and Applicant Events
Visit Luma University, explore our campus and meet staff and students at open days and applicant events.
Undergraduate open days
Luma hosts open days in July and October each year, plus additional spring dates for selected programmes. Open days run from 09:30 to 15:30 and include welcome talks, subject presentations, campus and accommodation tours, and financial guidance sessions. Registration is free and recommended to manage capacity in popular sessions.
The Edgewater campus is a fifteen-minute walk from Luma railway station, with direct services from Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton and Coventry. Visitor parking is available but limited; we encourage public transport. Disabled parking bays are located adjacent to the main reception.
Applicant days
Offer holders are invited to applicant days in January and March before the UCAS firm choice deadline. These events provide a deeper experience including subject taster sessions, meetings with academic tutors, and optional overnight stays in halls. Booking opens through the applicant portal when you receive an offer.
Applicant days help you decide whether Luma feels like the right community for your degree. Current students host informal Q&A sessions covering social life, part-time work, and academic workload. Parents and supporters attend dedicated briefings on finance, wellbeing and safety.
Postgraduate events
Postgraduate open evenings run in November and March, focusing on taught Master's, PGCE, MBA and research opportunities. Faculty presentations are followed by networking with academics and current postgraduates. Virtual webinars supplement in-person events for applicants who cannot travel to the West Midlands.
Research applicants are encouraged to contact potential supervisors directly before attending events. The doctoral college hosts monthly online information sessions covering funding, supervision and the application timeline.
Virtual visits
Our website offers 360-degree campus tours, student vlogs and recorded open day presentations for applicants unable to visit in person. Virtual open day livestreams run twice yearly with real-time Q&A with admissions staff and students. Register for notifications when the next virtual event is scheduled.
Schools and colleges in the West Midlands can request campus visits for groups of year 12 and 13 students through our widening participation team. Outreach officers deliver workshops in schools on topics including personal statements, student finance and transition to university.
