Luma Research Repository

The institutional repository NRepo hosts open-access versions of journal articles, theses, conference papers and creative outputs where publisher permissions allow. Search by author, department, keyword or funder. REF-eligible outputs are deposited within three months of acceptance as mandated by university policy.

Postgraduate theses are deposited upon award and discoverable globally through British Library EThOS integration.

Recent highlights

Luma researchers published over 680 journal articles in 2025 across disciplines. Notable outputs include Professor Okonkwo's paper on community energy models in Energy Policy, Dr Greene's monograph on Black Country industrial relations, and collaborative NHS research on discharge planning in the BMJ Open.

Citation rates increased 18 per cent year-on-year, reflecting growing international collaboration documented in REF environment statements.

Open access policy

Luma supports green and gold open access. Article processing charges for gold open access may be covered through Read and Publish agreements or central open access funds for corresponding authors. Contact the library research support team before submitting to journals for guidance on compliance and funding.

Public engagement outputs

Beyond academic journals, researchers contribute to public exhibitions, policy briefings, school resources and media commentary. The West Midlands Industrial Archive portal and Green Futures Week exemplify engagement reaching non-academic audiences across the region.
