Halls of Residence

Luma University offers 1,680 beds across four halls of residence on or adjacent to the Edgewater campus. All first-year undergraduates who apply by the deadline and select Luma as their firm choice are guaranteed accommodation. Postgraduate and international students are prioritised according to published allocation criteria.

Riverside Hall, opened in 2010, sits beside the River Tame with 380 en-suite rooms arranged in flats of six. Beacon Court offers 420 rooms including standard and premium en-suite options in a central campus location. Maple House provides 460 rooms with a mix of en-suite and shared bathroom layouts at our most affordable price point. Scholars Village, completed in 2025, offers 420 modern en-suite rooms in flats of six to eight with integrated study spaces.

First-year undergraduate home and international students are eligible for the accommodation guarantee when they apply by 31 May and hold Luma as their firm UCAS choice. Clearing students who confirm places within seven days receive guaranteed offers subject to availability.

Returning students, postgraduate students and second-year undergraduates may apply for remaining places after first-year allocation completes, typically in July. Priority is given to students with disability requirements, care leavers and international students.

Each hall employs a Residence Life team including a senior resident tutor and student resident assistants who organise social events, provide pastoral support and enforce community standards. Quiet hours apply from 23:00 to 08:00 during weekdays and extended hours during examination periods.

Hall common rooms include television lounges, pool tables and study areas. Laundry facilities operate on a card payment system. All halls are within a ten-minute walk of academic buildings, the library and catering outlets.

After accepting your offer, access the accommodation portal through the applicant hub. Rank your hall preferences and indicate any accessibility or dietary requirements. Room allocations release in July for September entrants; you will receive confirmation including hall, flat and move-in date.

If you decline your allocated room, you may re-enter the waiting list but cannot guaranteed a preferred hall. Private sector alternatives are listed on our accommodation website for students who prefer not to live in halls.
